So, technically I'm still on vacation in Yosemite. Only instead of being in Yosemite, we're in Mariposa. It's a long story, but at least the Best Western has free wi-fi (and the speed isn't bad either). Right now I'm looking at 441 photos that need to be color corrected, cropped, rated, uploaded, tagged, mapped, put in sets, and finally put in a Yosemite Collection.
Although tonight in the bar at Yosemite Lodge somebody thought I was a professional photographer. Clearly they've never seen my work.
I just saw that some 1337 dUd3s got xvid files playing (via Anarchaia) on the iTV. Which is awesome. As I scanned the thread, I saw this gem:
Nice work, guys! This seals the deal. I'm definitely picking one of these up now - before Apple tries to plug this hole.
Also, there goes Apple's business model.
The idea that this hack is somehow going to put a dent in the sales of TV shows through iTunes would be funny if I didn't think the poster meant it. Apple has been selling music, movies, and TV shows that people can download for free for quite a while now. DVD players have supported xvid for a while now. Yes, this is one less step to getting those files to play on your teevee, but seriously, how many people are going to do that? Will any of those people be people who buy stuff through iTunes because it's convenient? No.
Okay, so what's the threat to Apple's business model (which is ease of use at an acceptable price) again? Oh that's right, there isn't one.
Don't stop hacking though, brother. I'll use it.
Yes, yet another pberry site. Why tumblr? They make it very easy for me to aggregate my "data islands" while also tossing in an original post here and there.
