Yes, it's an odd pair to buy. So what. I had a free drink coupon for B&N and they knew that as soon as they got me in the door I would buy something.
The Feynman book solidifies, in my own mind at least, my hypothesis that all good physics professors are insane. The Penny Arcade book doesn't really break any new ground in establishing the fact that the creators are total psychopaths, but it certainly doesn't do anything to break down that idea.
Kat and I were at B&N so I could pick up Consilience, which I did, and I ended up picking up Mind Hacks as well. I think I'll need to pick up Statistical Hacks as well, because you know...it's got poker tips.
Also, unsurprisingly, we ran into Jay. Well, Jay ran into Kat and then they made some jokes about how I walk. Apparently I walk funny when I'm "on a mission." Who knew?
Sure, I have a number of books on my shelf that are, as of yet, unread. Why would I buy more? One must have an ample supply of reading material at hand at all times.
Kat got her latest copy of Seed Magazine and the cover story is on Edward O. Wilson, who may be our best hope in convincing people on both "sides" that there is no war between God and science.
His book Consilienc, from what I've read in Seed, sounds like a must read for a science nerd like myself. I'll let you know how it goes.
